Rocky IV (What are you doing in secrecy?)

If you are a Rocky fan like myself then you probably already know the above image was taken at the end of Rocky 4, when he defeated the over-sized Russian. Anyone who has seen the movie knows that this was the climax of the movie as Rocky, who was an underdog, defeated what seemed to be an invincible opponent. This is one of my favorite movies for many reasons but for now I will relate it to a passage from Luke 8:17

"For all that is secret will eventually be brought into the open, and everything that is concealed will be brought to light and made known to all."

When I think about the Rocky movie my first thoughts aren't of the picture above when he is victorious, but they are of these training images above. Why you may ask?

Have you ever accomplished something really big ,like graduating from school, losing weight, or even passing a hard test? Well if you have you know the importance of preparation and how key that is to success. But what is just as important is "when" you prepare. From the passage in Luke it mentions things being done in "secret". The above training pictures show Rocky working out in secrecy; no cameras, no fans, or even neighbors. Its a rural undesirable place  he is training at . His opponent however, Ivan Drago has state of the art equipment and is training under the bright lights of Russia's top official who has named him "Death from Above."

The movie does a good job of showing that hours of work invested in secrecy will one day be revealed for everyone to see. This could be either a good thing or a bad thing. So ask yourself..."What am I doing in secrecy?"

Enjoy watching the fight!!!
